Article Layout Design

The Spot " Magazine is a travel publication for young and independent travelers. The magazine is characterized by going deep into the culture to educate and prepare foreigners in all dimensions before visiting the country.

The objective of this project was to design, a 4-page spread story that portrays the essence of Colombia at a glance and captures the attention of the reader to discover a new country or destination.

I was inspired by the popular art present in the daily little details. At the public transportation, restaurants, and art you see in the street signs and walls in Colombia.
The colors are chosen to remind the viewer of the " kitsch" aesthetic present in Latin America. Through images, I show the " magic realism" Gabriel Garcia Marquez created based on Colombia's unification between raw reality and unique details present in the culture.

The collage aesthetic of the spreads goes with the objective of the magazine. Portraying the essence of Colombia in all its components: political, social, cultural, and artistic while also educating the reader about tourism and what to expect while visiting the country.

It's captivating and keeps the reader interested in the little details, awakening its curiosity and appetite for knowing more. It also has an artistic charge that could work as a collectible piece.

Even when the art is chaotic, the typeface chosen offers great readability and the layout organization is flowy and clean, avoiding the reader from feeling overwhelmed by the information offered.
