Book Cover Design - Hopscotch

The main objective of this new edition is to use typographic
elements to attract new and young readers to the world of
Hopscotch introducing this Latin-American novel to the current
Canadian market, so we can rescue this classic from being
forgotten.

To captivate the attention of young readers I thought of the
designing elements that could express the novel’s message.
This book cover’s art was created by hand with chalk and after
being photographed it was edited in Illustrator to add the final
specifications.

Colors: The all-time colors present in chalk since we were kids,
brings to the design memories of our childhood: giving the
book a sense of easiness and approachability.

Shape: The shapes that conform to the typeface, and its
distribution, remind us of the game without being too obvious
about its classical shape.

Texture: The presence of chalk texture brings playfulness to the design, making it look fresh and less intimidating.
